
We are pleased to report that we recently obtained a minor variance at the Committee of Adjustment for our property at 1170 Queen St. E. that will allow us to convert the upstairs apartment to a single-suite hotel.
The variance we required is to permit 1.4x the lot area for commercial uses vs the 1.0x permitted as of right under the existing zoning by-law. Our experience with the Casa Queen Hotel on the 2nd floor of our building at Queen St. and Greenwood Ave. has proven that we can generate substantially more income from these units as hotel suites compared to regular residential tenancies that are governed by the Residential Tenancy Act (Ontario).
We expect to begin operating this hotel suite within the next two months.
