We have successfully obtained revisions to the building permit to gain modifications which we were not able to achieve through our original campaign with the Planning Department and the Committee of Adjustment. Whereas the 3rd story balcony was previously restricted to a space for planter boxes that would have been very difficult to access, we now have a walk-out balcony accessible from both 3rd storey bedrooms. This revision has added approximately 30 square feet to the master bedroom and the Gross Floor Area of the house. It has also allowed us to eliminate a bulkhead in the ceiling of the 2nd storey family room that was required for drainage for the planter boxes. This may seam like a relatively insignificant revision but it adds substantially to the configuration options for the master bedroom and the new balcony adds a valuable amenity that will help to compensate for the lack of private outdoor space on the lot.
