We have started pouring the concrete foundation for the house. In a normal/typical house construction project, there is space on the lot on all sides of the house. Usually it is possible to excavate a larger space so that the wooden concrete forms can be built outside the foundation walls and then removed once the concrete has cured. This project is unique because we are building to the edge of the lot on all four sides and are not permitted to excavate neighbouring lands. As a result, the concrete foundation walls are being poured four feet at a time and then underpinned for the next four feet below. This has added a bit of complexity to the foundation process.
